Comprehensive Vision Analysis

Our vision examination consists of a thorough case history, visual field testing (peripheral vision), and refraction, or prescription determination. Binocular vision tests are also part of the examination, which determines how well your eyes work together as a team. Dr. Hirt will also evaluate the overall health of your eyes with dilation drops, and retinal photography.

Contact Lens Diagnostic Exam

In order to properly fit a contact lens on the eye, whether it is a rigid gas permeable, bifocal lens, or disposable, certain measurements must be obtained. The curvature of the cornea, tear film and lid structure mechanics of the upper and lower lids must be evaluated. Follow-up visits for up to 6 months are often required as well to ensure proper adaptation to your specific contact lens.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Infections and Other Diseases

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of. As the old adage states, a thorough examination is crucial to detect certain diseases which may not present symptoms until permanent damage has occurred. Diabetic complications, cataracts, retinal disorders and others can all be detected with annual examinations. Short-term eye problems are also treated effectively. Dr. Hirt treats corneal infections and inflammations (commonly know as "pink eye"), abrasions, corneal ulcers, and other acute ailments of the eye.
